Covid-19 Update - 19th July 2021
It’s been a non-stop few months for us little squirrels here at Heart Aflutter since reopening back in April. We’ve worked around the clock and made A LOT of brides happy! I can’t begin to express the gratitude for your trust and loyalty!
With the next phase of the unlocking now upon us, we are once again left with a great degree of uncertainty and confusion, and we have to make our own decisions for ourselves as individuals and businesses.
In short, we have seen a large uptick in positive cases and self-isolation requests amongst our customer base. We know this because of the amount of cancelled and rescheduled appointments we have had in the last couple of weeks. We expect this to continue for the next few weeks, as our customers are mostly in their 20s and 30s and not yet fully vaccinated.
Because of the nature of what we do, we come into extremely close contact over an extended period of time (1 hour or more). We do have all the possible mitigations in place, however currently only 3 out of our 5-strong team is fully vaccinated. So with the rules on self-isolation still standing until at least mid-August and most restrictions ending on July 19th (today!), if one of us is forced to isolate, so does the rest of the team, most likely. And if we all have to isolate then, well, we have to shut up shop and cancel all appointments for at least 10 days at a time (as this can happen more than once!).
We have therefore made the decision to NOT change our current mitigation measures, the main ones being:
Masks have to be worn at all times during the appointment (unless you are exempt).
Max 2 guests per bride, no exceptions.
Hand-sanitising/washing required before starting the appointment.
We do have a whole host of other measures in place (you can read about howe we endeavoured to keep everyone safe here), but these are the main ones.
We understand this will cause some disappointment, but we’ve done all we possibly could over the last 16 months to keep the business going and we most definitely don’t want to fall at the last hurdle.
